Republican candidate for Governor Don Huffines released a “Bitcoin & cryptocurrency” policy proposal. Huffines is running in the Republican primary against incumbent Governor Greg Abbott who has embraced Bitcoin, signed bills into law advancing it, and his campaign has accepted Bitcoin donations since 2014.
Mining
Marty Bent’s latest podcast recorded in Unchained Capital’s brand new Bitcoin Commons Austin office explores North American mining pools with Luxor’s Alex Brammer who is currently touring Texas.
Houston based Satoshi Energy Corporation closed a seed round raising 60 BTC ($3M equivalent). Satoshi Energy is building a market leading strategy for bitcoin miners to procure low cost renewable power and transform the future of energy finance.
Core Scientific went public via a SPAC and is now on NASDAQ under CORZ. Core announced a 300-megawatt Bitcoin mining facility in Denton, Texas last year. Core ended 2021 holding 5,296 BTC and its self-mining operations boast 67,000 ASIC machines.
Australian crypto miner Iris Energy secured a 600-megawatt connection with utility provider AEP Texas for a new 300 acre Texas panhandle Bitcoin mining facility that is expected to be energized in Q1 2023.
